Peer Mediation PDF Print E-mail

The peer mediation program is set up to help students in conflict resolve issues or disputes that they may be having. Students can be referred for mediations by administrators, teachers, parents, or self referral. The goal is for the trained mediators to help those in conflict to come up with solutions to their issues or disputes. We have nineteen students who have completed a summer peer mediation workshop and are available to conduct mediations. Any students who are interested in becoming a peer mediator for next school year can see Mr. Ives in the Student Services Office for further information. Listed below are the River Hill High School peer mediators for the 2010-2011 school year:

S.O.A.R. PDF Print E-mail

S.O.A.R. (Student Opportunities for Assistance & Review) is a peer tutoring program co-sponsored by Student Services and the National Honor Society.  Each summer, students who wish to tutor attend 10 hours of training in tutoring techniques, confidentiality issues, and peer relations.

Tutoring takes place after school on Tuesdays from 2:15 - 3:15.  To insure that a tutor will be available for the subject area needed, those wishing to be tutored must sign-up by the Friday before the tutoring session.  The sign-up book is on the secretary's desk in Student Services.  Students may sign-up at each session for the next session.  The session is one-on-one tutoring.

Morning Homework Assistance PDF Print E-mail

Did you have difficulty with a particular homework problem or concept?  Consider coming into Student Services for some before-school assistance.  Student Services will be open from 6:45am - 7:15am and be staffed by Peer Tutors who can help guide you through that item.  They are really not there to do intense tutoring, just to help with some homework that you were not able to grasp on your own.

Lunchtime Tutoring Available PDF Print E-mail

Interested in being tutored, but have other commitments after school?  Consider lunchtime tutoring.  Student Services has peer tutors available during all lunch shifts to assist you.  Bring your lunch, eat, and get tutored...what a deal!  To participate, signup on the clipboard between Mr. Ives'  and Mrs. Jackson's offices.  A tutor will be ready for you during your lunch shift.  For additional information, see your counselor.
