9th Grade Timeline
Get involved in extracurricular activities within the school or community
Consider thinking about colleges you would like to attend.
Create a file of the following documents: Report cards, volunteer work, list of honors and awards
Consider taking AP,GT and Honors level courses
Take PSAT to evaluate English, Reading and Math Scores
Prepare for college entrance requirements for schools that you may find interesting.
If possible, become involved in summer internship or other educational summer programs.
Time Management Skills:
Prepare a designated time for completing homework and studying.
Write down assignments/due dates; check assignments, as they are completed.
Find a productive environment to study, avoid distractions (Television, Ipod, Cell Phones, etc)
Spread out studying, don’t cram, study 1 hour/5 days a week rather than study 5 hours in one day.
Prioritize your academics and extracurricular activitie requirements.
Avoid procrastination.
Study Skills:
Summarize reading material in your own words.
Re-write notes to help remember important concepts.
Use flashcards while studying.
Read Subject Matter:
Read sub headings
Highlight key concepts
Outline relevant sections
