Mrs. Annette Jackson -  Mrs. Jackson is in her 25th year as a counselor and 35th year with the Howard County Public School System.  She has worked as a Crisis and Disaster Mental Health Counselor, a Career and Placement Counselor, as well as a School Counselor and has been at River Hill since 1997.  Mrs. Jackson earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her graduate degree from Loyola College in Maryland.  She is the counselor for students whose last names begin with Dr - J and serves as the Instructional Team Leader for Student Services.  Mrs. Jackson coordinates the PTSA's SAT Prep Program.   She also oversees a variety of peer tutoring opportunities at RHHS.

Mr. Danny Ives - Mr. Ives is in his 7th year as a school counselor at River Hill.  He earned his undergraduate degree in Social Work from Limestone College and worked for seven years as a foster care worker.  After earning his graduate degree from Bowie State University he worked for one year with the Howard County Public Schools Alternative Learning Program.  Mr. Ives counsels students with the lasts names beginning with A - Do, assists with the New Student Groups, and coordinates the Peer Mediation Program.  He is a liaison for the Black Leadership Union.

Mrs. Marianne Pizzo - Mrs. Pizzo is in her 7th year of counseling.  She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Loyola College in Maryland where she was a two-time All American Lacrosse player and also coached for one year.  Mrs. Pizzo works with the Ninth Grade Team and is the counselor for students with the last names beginning with K - N.  She is also responsible for posting and coordinating scholarship information and awards.

Mr. Philip Vangeli - Mr. Vangeli is in his 16th year of counseling and has been at River Hill since 2001.  He earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Hofstra University.  Mr. Vangeli played lacrosse for Hofstra and was also a college admission counselor there for two years.  He is the Coordinator for the Student Assistance Program (SAP).  Mr. Vangeli is the counselor for students with the last name beginning with O - R.  He coordinates Scholastic Apptitude Testing (SAT) at River Hill.

Mr. Michael Krouse - Mr. Krouse is a new counselor, working with students who last names begin with S – Z. Before joining Student Services, Mr. Krouse taught social studies at River Hill since 2000. He earned his undergraduate degree in Social Science and Education from Towson University, and his Master’s degree in School Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Krouse coordinates the 10th & 11th grade Advisory Program, and leads the Anti-bullying and Harassment Intervention.

Ms. Jennifer Ruby - Ms. Ruby joined  River Hill Student Services in 2009 as the counselor for the Newcomer students, which is an academic and transitional program for international students who speak very limited English and are new to Howard County Public Schools.  She is also serves as counselor for the ESOL students.  Ms. Ruby brings 11 years of experience in Prince George's County Public Schools, where she enjoyed nine years as an ESOL teacher, one as a mainstream high school counselor, for nealy 400 ESOL students at High Point High School.  She completed her B.A. at Earlham College, M.A. in TESOL at Salisbury University, and B.S. in Counseling at Johns Hopkins University.  Ms. Ruby looks forward to working with these international students, their families, and the River Hill community.

Dr. Jonathan Solomon - Dr. Solomon has been a school psychologist for 31 years.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Hofsta University and received his Master's and Doctorate from Syracuse University.  Dr. Solomon has worked with    students from pre-school through college in five different states (NY, AZ, IA, MN, & MD).  While most of his career has been spent working in schools, he has also worked in private practice and taught at Syracuse University and the University of Arizona.  As a member of  Student Services, he consults with parents and students, conducts assessments and interventions as part of Section 504 or Special Education, and conducts system-wide interventions.
